Real Madrid's El Clasico win will be a big topic of conversation for the next few days, and rightfully so. Los Blancos were able to get the job done for the first time in three Clasicos, and it took a brilliant performance from the lads to do it.
One of those players was Marc Cucurella, who, despite having an average start to the season, was able to brilliantly manage Lamine Yamal on the night. There was essentially no threat from the Spanish winger, and it looked absolutely fantastic to all Real Madrid fans.
Cucurella can improve his game to be more consistent, but it is clear that in the big games, he will be crucial and will also give his absolute best when it is most needed.
It is also worth noting that, in addition to the brilliant performance, Cucurella also made Yamal eat his own words from when he first joined Real Madrid.
Back then, Yamal said about Cucurella: “I told Cucurella that, by the second El Clásico, he will be on the bench because I will eat him alive in the first El Clásico.”
Well, it is fair to say that that did not end up happening. If anything, it was the other way around as Cucurella eviscerated Yamal at every single opportunity. He was unreal against the winger, and proved that revenge is a dish best served cold.
Cucurella, after the quote came out, said nothing. He did not need to say anything. All he needed to do was have a great performance when they faced off next, and that is exactly what he ended up doing.
Yamal has done this before. He has tried his best to talk so much trash to Real Madrid in the past, and many of those times, it came back to haunt him.
Real Madrid have not won many times since he has become a superstar, but in the few times they have seen victory, one big game where it was solely because if the amount of trash Yamal was talking, back in October of last year.
The hope was that, since then, Yamal would have realised his mistake and stopped doing too much for no reason. It turns out that it still very much exists, and he was reminded of Real Madrid's (and Cucurella's) greatness just three Clasicos later.
