The result put Medeama level on points with Hearts of Oak, although they lead the standings on goal difference.
Asante Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw by FC AshantiGold 04 in an entertaining Ashanti Derby at the Len Clay Stadium.
Boateng put FC AshantiGold 04 ahead in the 41st minute with a long-range effort that took a deflection. Patrick Asiedu restored parity for Asante Kotoko with a superb free-kick in the 63rd minute.
Neither team could find a late winner, leaving Asante Kotoko still without an away victory this season.
Port City FC recorded one of the weekend’s notable results by defeating Karela United 2-1 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
Owusu Ansah opened the scoring in the 77th minute, but Iddi Mahfuz equalised for Karela three minutes from full-time. Ansah then struck again in the 89th minute to complete his brace and secure Port City’s second away win of the campaign.
The victory lifted the newly promoted side into third place, while Karela suffered their second successive defeat.
Bibiani GoldStars also claimed a late 2-1 win over Heart of Lions at Dun’s Park. Kwame Opoku gave the hosts the lead after earlier missing a penalty, but Stephen Afoakwa equalised for Heart of Lions late in the match.
Godfred John Arthur scored in the final minute to seal all three points for GoldStars.
Bechem United ended a run without victory by beating Debibi United 3-0 at Nana Gyeabour Park. Isaiah Nyarko opened the scoring before Kelvin Appiah added two goals after half-time.
That result moved Bechem United up to sixth, while Debibi United dropped into the bottom three.
Dreams FC remain at the foot of the table after losing 3-1 at home to Vision FC at the Tuba Astro Turf. Sherif Mohammed Iddrisu scored twice and Setsifia Aqetey added another as Vision established a commanding first-half lead.
An own goal by Ibrahim Larbi gave Dreams FC a consolation, but Vision ended a six-match winless run and climbed out of the relegation zone.
Berekum Chelsea and FC Samartex drew 0-0 at Golden City Park, ending Chelsea’s two-match winning streak. FC Samartex extended their unbeaten run against the Bibires after following up their previous weekend victory over Medeama.
