RACING United continued their impressive start under Trinidadian head coach Densill “Bleeder” Theobald, climbing to the top of the Legend Jamaica Premier League (JPL) standings after a 2-1 away victory over Humble Lion FC on Sunday.

The win at Effortville Community Centre was Racing’s fourth away success in as many matches on the road this season, extending their winning run to three victories in their last four outings.

Nickyle Ellis scored both goals for Racing, who moved to 16 points, two clear of Tru-Juice FC, to take over the league lead.

Montego Bay United had an opportunity to reclaim top spot on Monday but suffered a 2-1 defeat to Caribbean champions Mount Pleasant, despite leading 1-0 at half-time. A victory would have moved Montego Bay above Racing.

Theobald, a member of Trinidad and Tobago’s 2006 FIFA World Cup squad, was appointed in August by Racing’s new Trinidadian owner, businessman Ryan Mouttet. He replaced veteran coach Anthony Patrick, whose contract was not renewed.

Racing’s new management turned to Theobald following his successful spell with Defence Force in the 2024/25 Trinidad and Tobago Premier Football League. He guided the club through an unbeaten campaign and a clean sweep of titles.

The 44-year-old, who has also coached Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-15 boys, is supported at Racing by goalkeeper coach Kevin Mussio and Trinidadian trainer Franz Husbands.

Theobald has also added four Trinidad and Tobago players to the Racing squad: Prisons goalkeeper Aaron Enill, national youth player Haile Beckles, and Tobagonians Adriel George and Joshua Araujo-Wilson--both former Defence Force players.
