WAFU B U17 Championship: Black Starlets winger Abdul Latif insists his best will come against Ivory Coast

Promising playmaker Abdul Latif Wunzalgu has expressed confidence ahead of the Black Starlets’ crucial semi-final clash against Ivory Coast, insisting that his finest performance of the tournament is yet to come.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday’s encounter, the talented winger promised to deliver his best as Ghana chase qualification for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

“Tomorrow’s game will be my finest,” Abdul Latif declared, signalling his readiness to make a significant impact in the high-stakes encounter.

The winger has already made his mark at the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship, earning the Player of the Match award after Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Togo in their opening Group A fixture. His contribution has made him one of the key figures in the Black Starlets’ campaign.

Abdul Latif will be hoping to translate his confidence into another influential display when Ghana face the Ivorians at the 4th August Stadium in Ouagadougou, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 GMT.

The Black Starlets head into the semi-final unbeaten, having topped Group A with seven points from three matches. A victory over Ivory Coast would secure Ghana a place in the final and, more importantly, guarantee qualification for the 2027 U17 AFCON.

Abdul Latif’s determination to produce his finest performance could prove crucial as the Black Starlets seek to overcome Ivory Coast and keep their title ambitions alive.
