Morocco will play both of their Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying matches against Niger on home soil in November, with the fixtures scheduled to take place at different stadiums.
The Atlas Lions will face Niger in the third and fourth rounds of qualifying during the next international break. Morocco will host the first match at the Complexe Mohammed V in Casablanca on 13 November before the return fixture is played at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat on 17 November.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) confirmed the arrangements in a statement.
Niger do not have an approved stadium available to stage the matches, meaning Morocco will host both games. The original plan was for Mohamed Ouahbi’s side to travel to Accra for the first fixture.
That journey was called off after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) apologised to the Niger Football Federation for being unable to host the match at Accra Sports Stadium, according to Moroccan newspaper Assabah.
Ghana are due to play Somalia at the same venue on 13 November, while the Ghana Under-23 team is also expected to use the stadium as part of preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers. Accra Sports Stadium is reportedly the only venue in Ghana authorised to host international matches.
The Niger Football Federation, known as Fenifoot, then sought permission from the Benin Football Federation (FBF) to stage the fixture at Stade de l’Amitie in Cotonou. That request was not granted.
With those options unavailable, the FRMF is reported to have offered to host the match for Fenifoot. Morocco has 13 venues that meet the required standards and are available during the upcoming international window.
Morocco began their qualifying campaign with victories over Gabon and Lesotho in September, beating Gabon 2-0 before winning 2-0 away against Lesotho.
The Atlas Lions currently lead Group A on their own, with a three-point advantage over the team in second place.
Two further victories against Niger would put Morocco in a strong position to reach CAN 2027. The qualifying campaign is taking place as uncertainty remains over whether the tournament will go ahead in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, which are due to host the finals jointly.
