Ghanaian midfielder Kelvin Ofori was among the goalscorers as APS Atromitos Athinon secured an impressive 3-1 victory over NPS Volos in the fourth round of the Greek Cup on Thursday.
Ofori found the back of the net in the 11th minute to help Atromitos respond quickly after falling behind early in the encounter.
Volos had taken the lead in the eighth minute through Georgios Charalampoglou, who converted an opportunity created by Hamza Mendyl to put the hosts ahead.
However, Atromitos wasted little time restoring parity, with Ofori finishing off a pass from Stavros Pnevmonidis three minutes later to bring his side back into the contest.
The visitors completed their turnaround just two minutes later when Samuel Moutoussamy rose highest to head home a delivery from Kyriakos Papadopoulos, giving Atromitos a 2-1 advantage.
Atromitos further strengthened their position in the 23rd minute when Volos defender Derek Agyakwa inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, extending the visitors’ lead to 3-1.
Despite attempts by Volos to fight their way back into the match after the break, Atromitos remained defensively organised and protected their advantage until the final whistle.
Ofori was withdrawn in the 70th minute after making a decisive contribution to his team’s victory with his first-half goal.
The result represents an important boost for Atromitos as they continue their quest for success in the Greek Cup, while Ofori’s performance further highlights the Ghanaian midfielder’s growing contribution to the Greek side.
