2026/27 Ghana Premier League: Week 8 Match Report - Karela United 1-2 Port City

Port City FC ended Karela United’s impressive home record with a dramatic 2-1 victory at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale on Sunday.

The newly promoted side showed resilience to secure a deserved win, becoming the first team to beat Karela at home this season and recording their second away victory of the campaign.

Owusu Ansah gave Port City the lead in the 77th minute before Iddi Mahfuz restored parity for Karela United nine minutes later.

However, Ansah struck again in the 89th minute to complete his brace and snatch all three points for the visitors.

The victory lifts Port City to third place in the Ghana Premier League standings, underlining their impressive start to life in the top flight and their growing reputation as a strong team on the road.

Port City will look to maintain their momentum when they travel south to face Vision FC in Tema in their next fixture.

Karela United have now suffered back-to-back defeats, putting pressure on head coach Nurudeen Amadu to turn things around. The Golden Boys will look to bounce back when they travel to face Young Apostles in their next fixture.
