Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scores brace as FC Aarau dump FC Zurich out of Swiss Cup

Ghanaian attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored twice to inspire FC Aarau to a 2-0 victory over FC Zurich on Sunday afternoon, securing their place in the Round of 16 of the Swiss Cup.

The 25-year-old delivered an impressive performance, scoring in the second half to help the home side overcome their opponents and advance to the next stage of the competition.

After a goalless first half, Barnieh broke the deadlock in the 65th minute, giving Aarau the crucial breakthrough in a closely contested encounter.

The former Hearts of Oak forward then struck again in the 80th minute to double the advantage and put the result beyond doubt, completing his brace and sealing a memorable victory for his team.

His two goals proved decisive as Aarau eliminated Zurich from the competition, with Barnieh once again demonstrating his ability to make a difference in the final third.

The Ghanaian attacker has now recorded three goals and two assists this season, underlining his growing contribution to the team's attacking output.

Barnieh, who previously played for Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak, continues to build his career in European football following his move away from the Ghanaian domestic league.

His latest performance will provide a significant boost to both the player and Aarau as they prepare for the next round of the Swiss Cup.

With his brace against Zurich, Barnieh has delivered a match-winning display that could further strengthen his position in the team as the campaign progresses.
