Kelechi Iheanacho’s 12-match scoring streak ends in Turkey

Kelechi Iheanacho’s record-breaking run of scoring in 12 consecutive matches ended on Saturday as Bursaspor beat Band?rmaspor 3-0 in the TFF 1. Lig.

The Super Eagles forward, who joined Bursaspor at the beginning of the season, had made history in the Turkish leagues with his remarkable scoring sequence. However, he was unable to extend the run in the Matchday 13 fixture at the Centennial Ataturk Stadium.

Bursaspor took control early, with Halil Akbunar opening the scoring in the seventh minute. Lewis Baker then struck twice, adding goals in the 12th and 23rd minutes to complete a convincing victory for the home side.

The result gave ‘The Crocodiles’ their fourth consecutive league win and moved them to 31 points. Bursaspor finished the week at the top of the table.

Although Iheanacho’s scoring record came to an end, the unbeaten run referenced in his impressive 12-match sequence had marked a significant start to his campaign in Turkey.
