Martinez nets hat-trick as Women put six past Bristol City in Players Cup

Shekiera Martinez scored a hat-trick as we marched to a 6-1 win over WSL 2 side Bristol City in the Subway Players Cup.

Martin Ho’s side made it two wins in a row in the competition, which has taken on a new format for the 2026/27 season, moving up to sixth in the 23-team table after three matches.

German international Martinez opened the scoring after 14 minutes before Olivia Holdt extended our lead six minutes later.

The forward, who joined us from West Ham United in the summer, scored her third goal for the club in the 24th minute, with Signe Gaupset making it four by lobbing the Bristol City goalkeeper from range after 41 minutes.

Rio Hardy pulled one back for the hosts two minutes later, but Nilden’s maiden Spurs strike four minutes into the second half restored our lead to four goals, and Martinez completed her hat-trick in the 78th minute, scoring from close range.

Alongside the strong performance, the game saw the highly anticipated return of Jessica Naz, who made her first appearance in 325 days, having ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament last December.
