BAR 1-2 RMA: Players Responsible for Barcelona Disappointing El Clasico Defeat

According to a report by Flashscore on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Barcelona suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid in El Clasico after wasting several promising scoring opportunities.

Kylian Mbappe gave Real Madrid the lead in the first half before Raphinha equalised for Barcelona in the 61st minute. However, Mbappe scored his second goal in the 88th minute after receiving an assist from Eduardo Camavinga, securing all three points for the hosts.

Despite showing greater attacking intent after the break, Barcelona failed to convert several opportunities, with four players particularly struggling to make the most of their chances against their fierce rivals.

1\. Lamine Yamal

Yamal endured a difficult evening despite showing glimpses of his attacking quality. The Barcelona winger missed an excellent opportunity in the 44th minute when he found himself inside the six-yard box but sent his effort narrowly wide of the right post.

He continued searching for a goal after the interval, but his attempt in the 65th minute was blocked by a Real Madrid defender. Nine minutes later, he fired another effort well off target before having a further shot blocked in the 82nd minute. His inability to take advantage of these opportunities contributed to Barcelona’s defeat.

2\. Anthony Gordon

Gordon struggled to turn his attacking efforts into a meaningful contribution as Barcelona attempted to overcome Real Madrid. In the 16th minute, Andriy Lunin produced an important save to deny his powerful strike from the edge of the penalty area.

The Barcelona attacker created another promising opportunity in the 35th minute, but the Madrid goalkeeper made another impressive stop to prevent him from scoring.

Gordon was booked in the 85th minute following a heavy challenge before eventually being substituted. Although he managed to test Lunin on several occasions, his failure to convert his chances left Barcelona frustrated.

3\. Fermin Lopez

Fermin Lopez struggled to provide the attacking spark Barcelona needed during the encounter. In the 24th minute, he attempted to find the target, but a Real Madrid defender blocked his effort before it could trouble Lunin.

The midfielder continued working hard but found it difficult to make a decisive impact as Madrid worked to protect their advantage.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick eventually replaced him in the 74th minute, introducing Frenkie de Jong in an attempt to improve the team's performance and strengthen their efforts to find another goal.

4\. Joao Cancelo

Joao Cancelo also endured a frustrating outing against Real Madrid, failing to turn his attacking contributions into clear scoring opportunities for Barcelona.

In the 35th minute, he delivered a corner kick that Lunin anticipated well, preventing the set piece from creating a significant threat.

Cancelo later sent a dangerous lofted cross into the penalty area in the 59th minute, but Real Madrid's defence intercepted the delivery before Barcelona could benefit from it.

Although the defender attempted to provide width and support his team's attacking movements, his efforts did not produce the decisive outcome Barcelona needed to avoid defeat in El Clasico.
