FC Savannah secured a 2-0 victory over Dorma Candy Ladies at the Gusheigu Astro Turf on Sunday, while Dreamz Ladies and Tamale Super Ladies played out a goalless draw in Kumasi in the Northern Zone.
Both teams started the match with attacking intent, but FC Savannah made the brighter opening. They pressed high and created early opportunities, while Dorma Candy Ladies looked to threaten on the counter-attack.
Savannah took the lead in the 16th minute after taking advantage of a defensive lapse. A well-worked move created space in the attacking third, allowing Sofaya Issah to finish and put FC Savannah 1-0 ahead.
Dorma Candy Ladies responded by increasing the pressure in search of an equaliser, but FC Savannah’s defence remained organised and preserved the lead until half-time.
The visitors continued to protect their advantage after the break before Darajat Rafio Yussif settled the contest in the 93rd minute. Her individual brilliance produced Savannah’s second goal and confirmed a 2-0 win.
The result gives FC Savannah a hard-fought victory in an entertaining contest, while Dorma Candy Ladies were unable to convert their attacking response into a goal.
In Kumasi, Dreamz Ladies and Tamale Super Ladies shared the points after a tight encounter ended 0-0 at the Dreamz Ladies home grounds.
The match developed into a tactical battle with limited chances for either side. Dreamz Ladies, who had drawn 0-0 with Dorma Candy Ladies on Matchday 1, again demonstrated defensive solidity but found it difficult to break through a well-organised Tamale Super Ladies backline.
Both teams pushed for a late winner, but neither side showed enough quality in the final third to find the decisive goal.
The stalemate means Dreamz Ladies have now recorded back-to-back goalless draws. Tamale Super Ladies, meanwhile, return from the away fixture with a valuable point.
Both teams remain unbeaten and have two points each after two games.
