Debibi United beat Hearts of Oak 1-0 to End Phobians’ Three-Match Winning Streak

According to a report by MyJoyOnline published on November 1, 2026, Debibi United have ended Accra Hearts of Oak's three-match winning streak after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over the Phobians in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 9 encounter.

The match, played at Debibi Presby Park, saw the newly promoted side claim all three points against one of the league's established clubs.

Sarkodie Demetrous scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute, giving Debibi United the advantage shortly after the break. His strike proved enough to secure the club's first top-flight victory and hand Hearts of Oak a disappointing defeat.

Hearts started the encounter brightly and came close to opening the scoring in the eighth minute through Kader, whose effort was saved by the Debibi goalkeeper.

The hosts also threatened at the other end, but Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare produced an important save in the 13th minute to deny them an early breakthrough.

The Phobians continued searching for a goal, with Kader playing an influential role in their attacking moves. However, they suffered an injury setback shortly after the interval when Kader was replaced by Martin Karikari in the 46th minute.

Five minutes later, Debibi United capitalised on their opportunity as Sarkodie Demetrous found the back of the net.

Hearts coach Nebojsa Kapoor responded with substitutions as his team attempted to recover from the setback. Despite creating further opportunities and pushing for an equaliser, the visitors could not break through Debibi's defence.

The hosts held on through the closing stages, including five minutes of additional time, to record a memorable victory.

The result brings Hearts of Oak's three-game winning run to an end and drops them to third place in the league standings. Debibi United, meanwhile, move out of the relegation zone, gaining an important boost in their campaign.

The victory marks a significant result for the league newcomers, who have demonstrated their ability to compete against established Premier League sides.
