A Nigerian football fan, Muhammed Usman Ape, has expressed confidence that the Flamingos will defeat Japan in Saturday’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final in Morocco.
Ape praised the team for their discipline, determination and strong performances throughout the competition.
He said the players had shown great character by bouncing back from their 2-1 opening defeat to Poland and improving their performance in subsequent matches.
According to him, the team quickly corrected its mistakes and became more organised and confident as the tournament progressed.
“The girls have been very fantastic in all their games after the disappointing defeat to Poland in the opening match. After the defeat, they quickly regrouped and corrected their lapses.
“Since the opening match, they have been resolute, disciplined and very tactical in their matches,” he said.
Ape also praised the Flamingos for their impressive 3-1 victory over Brazil in the semi-final, saying he enjoyed watching the team’s performance.
He described the victory as a satisfying moment for Nigerian football supporters.
With Japan standing between Nigeria and their first-ever U-17 Women’s World Cup title, Ape said he was confident the Nigerian girls would win the final.
“For today’s match, I am very sure they will win against Japan and bring the trophy home,” he said.
The football fan also urged the Super Eagles to learn from the Flamingos, especially their discipline, commitment and ability to follow their coach’s instructions.
He said the senior men’s national team could improve its performances by adopting the same level of tactical discipline and dedication shown by the young players.
“I think the Super Eagles need to learn something from the girls, particularly on tactical discipline and dedication,” Ape said.
The Flamingos are scheduled to face Japan at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, Morocco, with kick-off set for 6:30pm local time.
A victory would make Nigeria the first African country to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
It would also be another major achievement for Nigerian women’s football, which has continued to produce promising young talents on the international stage.
