Perugia secured a 1-1 draw against Guidonia Montecelio at Città dell’Aria, relying on a late equalizer from Sabbatani after playing with a numerical advantage for much of the match.

Città dell’Aria Match Statistics and Late Drama

Perugia capitalized on a one-man advantage after Guidonia defender Borghini received a second yellow card late in the first half. Despite the extra player, the visitors struggled to find rhythm until the 71st minute, when Sabbatani pounced in the box to cancel out Ferrari’s 11th-minute penalty for the hosts.

Guidonia entered the fixture following a 2-0 defeat against Torres, while Perugia traveled looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Pescara. The head-to-head record showed a 2-1 victory for Perugia in their January 2026 meeting in the home of Guidonia Montecelio, alongside a scoreless draw from August 2025.

Lineups and Tactical Adjustments in Serie C

Both managers deployed a 3-5-2 formation at Città dell’Aria. Perugia coach Diana rolled out an experimental attack pairing Sabbatani with Cortesi. Guidonia coach Ginestra relied on the forward duo of Ferrari and Vertainen to test the visiting backline.

The match turned tactically when Borghini was dismissed just before halftime following a challenge on Cortesi. Perugia increased pressure in the second half through substitutes including Cisco and Seha, though missed opportunities in the closing minutes prevented the visitors from completing a full comeback.

Corporate Uncertainty Surrounding the Club

Attention immediately shifts off the pitch following the final whistle, with crucial developments regarding corporate ownership expected in the coming week. The draw lifts Perugia’s morale in the Serie C Girone B table, but administrative questions remain central to the club’s immediate future.
