Former Premier League side Real Tamale United FC secured their third victory of the season with a hard-earned 1-0 win over city rivals Tamale City FC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Rahim Akanta emerged as the match-winner, scoring in first-half stoppage time to hand Real Tamale United a crucial lead heading into the break.

Tamale City FC pushed for an equaliser after the restart but struggled to break down a resolute Real Tamale United defence, as the visitors held firm to claim all three points in the Tamale derby.

The victory lifts Real Tamale United FC to second place in the Zone One A standings with 10 points after five matches, keeping them firmly in contention near the top of the table.

Sankara Nationals continued their impressive start to the UMB Division One League season with a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Northern City FC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

Substitute Alhassan Adam proved to be the difference-maker, coming off the bench to score the decisive goal in the 84th minute to secure all three points for the visitors. The victory also highlighted Sankara Nationals' defensive resilience, as they recorded their fourth clean sheet in their opening five league matches.
