Felix Afena-Gyan rediscovers scoring touch with impressive season at Iğdır FK

Ghana international Felix Afena-Gyan is enjoying a resurgence in form this season, rediscovering his confidence and goalscoring touch with Turkish side Iğdır FK in an encouraging 2026/27 campaign.

After enduring inconsistent spells in recent seasons, the 23-year-old forward has become an increasingly influential figure for the Turkish club, producing important goals and performances that have reignited hopes of returning to his best.

Afena-Gyan has made 13 appearances, including eight starts, scoring four goals and providing one assist in 840 minutes of action across all competitions.

The former AS Roma striker has delivered several standout performances this season, none more impressive than his two-goal display in Iğdır FK’s thrilling 4-2 victory over Manisa FK, where he showcased his pace, movement and clinical finishing.

He followed that up with another decisive contribution, scoring the winning goal in a hard-fought 2-1 away triumph over Bandırmaspor to secure all three points for his side.

Afena-Gyan has also carried his club form onto the international stage. The Black Stars forward found the back of the net in Ghana’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against The Gambia, underlining his growing confidence in front of goal.

The former Roma youngster burst onto the scene in 2021 after scoring a dramatic late winner against Genoa in Serie A, but injuries and limited playing opportunities slowed his progress in subsequent seasons.

Now enjoying regular football in Turkey, Afena-Gyan appears to be rebuilding his career through consistent performances and increased game time.

His pace, strength and ability to stretch defences have made him a key attacking weapon for Iğdır FK, while his improved finishing has been crucial to the club’s campaign.

With four goals already to his name and momentum building, Afena-Gyan will be aiming to continue his fine form for both club and country as he looks to re-establish himself among Ghana’s leading attacking options ahead of the remainder of the season.
