Major League Soccer has a new top dog. Nashville SC has dominated the regular season from start to finish, and now the club is beginning to reap the rewards. After clinching the Supporters’ Shield with a win over Montreal, the Boys in Gold will look to make history on Decision Day. B.J. Callaghan’s side has its sights set on the regular-season points record and the coveted MLS Cup title to cap what has already been a remarkable campaign.
What a season Nashville has put together. Twenty-two wins, eight draws and just three losses have propelled the club to the pinnacle of North American soccer. With 74 points already on the board, Nashville has secured its first major accomplishment, and a second could be about to follow.

With just one game left to play, Nashville needs only one more point to set the new standalone record for the most points ever earned by an MLS team in a single regular season. The current mark, which they share, was established in 2024, when Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami raised the bar with 74 points.
A draw against FC Cincinnati on Saturday would take Nashville to 75 points, while a victory would see them finish on 77.
And there could be more history to come. Nashville already boasts a record 15 home wins this season and could also break the post-shootout-era record for total victories with a 23rd win. The club’s +44 goal differential is within reach of LAFC’s record +48, while conceding no more than one goal against Cincinnati would establish a new defensive benchmark for a 34-game season.
But the ambition does not stop with a place in the record books. The real objective for the Tennessee club is lifting MLS Cup and completing a memorable double. Should Nashville pull it off, it would mark the first MLS Cup championship in the history of a club that was founded less than a decade ago.

At the heart of this achievement is one man helping lead the attack: Hany Mukhtar. The German playmaker has cemented his status as one of the driving forces behind Nashville’s dream season. Alongside Sam Surridge, who has scored 19 league goals, and Cristian Espinoza, who has provided 15 assists, Mukhtar has helped turn Nashville into one of the most formidable teams in MLS.
Nashville’s No. 10 now appears ready to lead his side into the playoffs and chase the crown that could cement his place among the elite figures in American soccer.
