Benin City, the Edo State capital, is set to host a 26-hour cheerleading marathon by Kadiri Eseose Silva and her team as they seek to secure a place in the Guinness World Records.

The planned event, tagged “Longest Cheerleading Marathon: 26 Hours Sports Activities”, is being organised in collaboration with Fashion Junkie Pre-Event and The City’s Inter-House Sport.

According to the organisers, the initiative is aimed at showcasing endurance, teamwork and physical fitness while encouraging young people to participate in sporting and recreational activities.

The marathon is also intended to promote cheerleading as a sporting activity and provide a platform for young Nigerians to demonstrate their skills and resilience.

The proposed attempt comes amid growing interest in Guinness World Records challenges among Nigerians across sports, entertainment, culinary arts and other fields.

However, the attempt’s eligibility for a Guinness World Records title and its eventual recognition will depend on compliance with the organisation’s requirements and verification of the performance.

Further details, including the event date, venue and participation arrangements, were not provided in the information made available.
