Nottingham Forest defeated Manchester City 3–1 at the City Ground on Saturday, November 7, 2026, with former City striker Liam Delap scoring twice to help lift his side out of the Premier League relegation zone.
Jair Cunha gave Forest an early lead before Delap doubled their advantage. Rayan Cherki pulled a goal back for City after half-time, but Delap struck again to secure Forest’s first home league win of the season.
The home side took the lead in the sixth minute when Cunha dispossessed City defender Joško Gvardiol, drove forward and finished past goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. It was the Brazilian defender’s first goal for Forest.
Delap made it 2–0 in the 18th minute, carrying the ball forward before beating Donnarumma with a powerful finish. The former Manchester City academy player’s goal gave Forest a commanding advantage before the break.
Manchester City returned with greater urgency in the second half, and Cherki reduced the deficit in the 52nd minute with a half-volley from the edge of the area.
Enzo Maresca’s side pressed for an equaliser, but Forest restored their two-goal lead in the 73rd minute. Delap exchanged passes with Morgan Gibbs-White during a counter-attack before firing a shot in off the post.
The result was Manchester City’s third consecutive Premier League defeat, leaving them six points behind leaders Arsenal.
For Oliver Glasner’s Forest, the victory provided a boost at the other end of the table. The three points moved them up to 16th place, outside the relegation zone.
