Ampem Darkoa Ladies coach Charles Anokye Frimpong has expressed satisfaction with his team's performance after the Ghanaian champions opened their 2026 CAF Women's Champions League campaign with a commanding 5-1 victory over USFAS Bamako.
The WAFU B champions recovered from an early setback to produce an impressive display against their Malian opponents, securing all three points to move to the top of Group B.
USFAS Bamako took the lead after just 12 minutes through Oumou Kone, who beat goalkeeper Rose Teye Baah with a delicate finish.
However, Ampem Darkoa responded with two quick goals before the break, with Angelina Yeboah and Patricia Agyei turning the game around.
Yeboah completed her brace after the restart before Beline Nyarko and Amoh added further goals to seal an emphatic victory.
Frimpong was particularly pleased with how his players approached the contest and their ability to deliver an effective performance in their opening fixture.
"Very happy and excited by the way the girls were able to exhibit good football to at least win the game for us with that effective victory," he said.
He added: "I'm very happy with the performance my girls put up yesterday in our opening campaign at the CAF Women's Champions League in Egypt 2026."
The coach also stressed the importance of approaching the competition one match at a time, with Ampem Darkoa now turning their attention to their next Group B encounter against Kawempe Muslim Girls.
