Samartex stun Medeama with late winner

Christian Agyenim Boateng struck in the 92nd minute to earn FC Samartex a dramatic 2-1 victory over league leaders Medeama SC at the Nsenkyire Arena on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

The Matchday 7 encounter handed Medeama their first defeat of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season and brought Samartex level with them on 14 points.

Neither side managed to break the deadlock in a closely contested first half, leaving the match goalless at the interval. The contest opened up after the restart, with all three goals arriving in the second period.

With the teams locked at 1-1 and the game heading towards a draw, Boateng delivered the decisive strike deep into stoppage time. His late intervention secured maximum points for the hosts and ended Medeama’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

The result tightened the early title race, with Samartex joining Medeama and Hearts of Oak on 14 points at the top of the standings.

For Samartex, the victory provided a significant boost against a leading rival, while Medeama were left to reflect on a late setback that cost them their outright advantage at the summit.
