FC Ashantigold 04 have parted ways with head coach and technical director Abdul Karim Kabutey Zito, assistant coach Ernest Okyere and goalkeepers’ trainer Robert Dabo with immediate effect.

The Ghana Premier League club announced the decision in a statement on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, following a consultative meeting of its Interim Management Committee on Monday.

Ashantigold did not disclose the reasons behind the decision but confirmed that all three members of the technical team had been relieved of their duties.

Zito, who joined the club ahead of the 2026/27 season after leaving Asante Kotoko, held the dual roles of head coach and technical director.

The club has appointed a caretaker coach to oversee the team while management works towards naming permanent replacements for the head coach and technical director positions. However, the identity of the caretaker coach and the timeline for the substantive appointments have not been disclosed.

In the statement signed by chief executive officer Edward Kwasi Akuoko, Ashantigold thanked the departing officials for their contributions and service to the club and wished them well in their future endeavours.

The decision comes as the Miners seek to improve their fortunes in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.

After eight matches, Ashantigold sit 10th in the league table with 11 points, having dropped points against Asante Kotoko in the Ashanti Derby.

The club will now turn its attention to Sunday’s Matchday Nine fixture against Swedru All Blacks at the Swedru Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT.

The encounter will provide an immediate test for the team as it prepares to move forward following the changes to its technical setup.
