Hearts of Oak deny owing players three months’ salaries
Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak communications director Kwame Opare Addo has denied reports that the club owes its players three months’ salaries and three outstanding match-winning bonuses.

Recent media reports had suggested that the Phobians were behind on salary payments to their playing body, raising concerns about the club’s financial obligations to its players.

However, Opare Addo dismissed the claims as inaccurate and exaggerated, insisting that the only outstanding salary relates to October, which is yet to end.

“In the first place, there are no such things like three months’ outstanding unpaid salaries or bonuses that the management of the club has not paid to our players – there is nothing like that,” he told Ahenfie FM.

“If it is an issue with unpaid wages for this very month, which is yet to end, I will not run away from it, but to say we owe players some three months’ arrears is never true,” he added.

Opare Addo also assured players that the club would continue to fulfil its financial commitments, including match-winning bonuses, as the team maintains its push for success.

“Whatever is due them after every game, including bonuses, we will make sure it is worked on and delivered to them. As the motivation continues to come, the players also continue to work well,” he said.

He further stated that the club’s payment arrangements remained consistent, promising that any bonuses due for the current month would be settled before their next fixture.

“Even before we play our next game, whatever bonus is due to whoever for this very month will be honoured before the next fixture,” Opare Addo said.

Hearts of Oak, who are level on points with Ghana Premier League leaders Medeama, will travel to face Debibi United in their Matchday Nine fixture this weekend as they look to maintain their challenge at the top of the table.
