Port City head coach Christopher Ennin has expressed satisfaction with his team’s impressive performances in their debut Ghana Premier League campaign, insisting that the club remains determined to achieve greater success as the season progresses.
The Kukurantumi-based side have enjoyed an encouraging introduction to Ghana’s top-flight football, collecting 14 points from their opening eight matches to occupy an impressive fourth position in the league standings.
Despite the positive start, Ennin has revealed that the club initially set an ambitious target of accumulating at least 13 points from their first five matches, highlighting the team’s determination to establish themselves among the competitive sides in the division.
Speaking to Eagle Eye GH, the Port City manager said he was pleased with the progress made by his players, although he believes there is still room for further improvement.
“I’m impressed with our performances so far in the Premier League. Our target at the beginning of the season was to secure at least 13 points from our first five games, but collecting 14 points from eight matches is not a bad return. We will continue to push hard because the sky is our limit,” he said.
Port City have recorded four victories, two draws and two defeats in their first eight league fixtures, an encouraging return for a club making its maiden appearance in the Ghanaian top flight.
Their early-season performances have provided a strong foundation for their campaign, with Ennin and his technical team expected to build on the momentum as they seek to maintain their position among the league’s leading clubs.
Attention now shifts to their Matchday Nine encounter against Vision FC, with Port City preparing for a trip to Tema to face the home side at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex.
Ennin will be hoping his players maintain their competitive spirit and consistency as they look to extend their impressive start and continue making an impact in their debut Premier League season.
