Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has revealed that competing in the English Premier League requires maximum concentration, with players needing to remain alert throughout every match.

The Coventry City striker made the comments after his side’s 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night, a result that left the Sky Blues 17th on the league table.

Thomas-Asante played a key role in Coventry’s fightback, providing the assist for Jack Rudoni’s equaliser four minutes after the break after James Maddison had given Tottenham the lead in the 14th minute.

However, Spurs responded with two more goals to secure victory, leaving Coventry with only two wins from their opening seven league matches since returning to the top flight.

The 27-year-old acknowledged the intensity and quality required to compete at the highest level but remains confident that Coventry can improve as the season progresses.

“It’s enjoyable. You have to be switched on all the time, and there are challenges all around,” Thomas-Asante said.

His comments highlight the demanding nature of Premier League football, where consistency and focus are crucial as Coventry look to establish themselves among England’s elite clubs.

The Sky Blues are currently just one point above the relegation zone, leaving them with little margin for error in the coming weeks.

Despite the setback against Tottenham, Thomas-Asante insists Coventry remain determined to fight for positive results and continue their push up the table.

“But we back ourselves, and we want to climb up the table. So it’s just a start,” he added.

Thomas-Asante and his teammates will now focus on their upcoming fixtures as they look to turn their performances into points and move further away from danger.
