Forson Amankwah scores for Hapoel Beer Sheva in Europa League defeat to AZ Alkmaar

Ghana midfielder Forson Amankwah registered his first goal for Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Europa League.

The on-loan Norwich City midfielder netted in the second half to level the scores in the game against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

However, the home side stole a late win after Mexx Merdink converted from the spot with 13 minutes remaining.

AZ had opened the scoring four minutes into the second half through forward Peer Koopmeiners, but Amankwah responded six minutes later.

The West Africa Football Academy graduate is enjoying a great start to his career with the Israeli side, having already contributed three goals in six matches.

Amankwah is hoping to rediscover the form that had Norwich beat several suitors for his signature to join them from Red Bull Salzburg.

Meanwhile, he looks to be making a claim for a return to the national team ahead of next month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Ghana had a poor start to the qualifiers leading to the sacking of coach Carlos Quieroz, but the next manager is expected to cast his net wide by looking at players like Amankwah.
