Ghana Premier League Round Seven Overview
Kelvin Osei Asibey, Hearts of Oak

Match Day Seven of the Ghana Premier League produced another competitive weekend, with late goals, narrow victories and a major upset shaping the standings. While Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko recorded important wins, Samartex ended Medeama’s unbeaten start, highlighting the growing competition among clubs as the season progresses.

Vision FC 0–1 Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak secured consecutive league victories after edging Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema. Substitute Kwesi Asmah scored in the 86th minute, capitalising on a loose clearance to hand the Phobians all three points. Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare also played a key role as Hearts secured a hard-fought win.

Asante Kotoko 2–1 Young Apostles

Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways with a 2–1 victory over Young Apostles at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Hubert Gyau opened the scoring in the 70th minute before Solomon Nsoh Asaah doubled the lead in the 81st minute.

Emmanuel Sanja, Asante Kotoko

Young Apostles responded through Iddrisu Huzaif’s late direct free-kick, but Kotoko held on to secure the points after their previous-round defeat to Swedru All Blacks.

Heart of Lions 0–2 Berekum Chelsea

Berekum Chelsea claimed an impressive away victory over Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium. Dramani Awuah put the visitors ahead in the 40th minute before Paul Attah Agyei added a second in the 70th minute. Chelsea’s clinical finishing proved decisive, leaving the hosts without a response.

Swedru All Blacks 2–0 Karela United

Swedru All Blacks continued their strong home form with a comfortable victory over Karela United.

Eric Wiafe Darkwah, Swedru All Blacks

Eric Wiafe Darkwah converted a penalty in the 10th minute before Faisal Charwetey doubled the advantage in the 59th minute, finishing a move set up by Darkwah. The win extended Swedru’s winning run after their previous victory over Kotoko.

FC Samartex 1996 2–1 Medeama SC

Samartex recorded one of the weekend’s biggest results by handing defending champions Medeama their first defeat of the season at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

Kinsley Braye, Medeama SC

Joshua Fuseini gave Samartex the lead in the 54th minute, but Dominic Amponsah equalised for Medeama in the 79th minute. Christian Agyenim Boateng, however, struck in stoppage time to seal a dramatic victory for the hosts.

The result strengthened Samartex’s position among the early contenders, while Medeama suffered a setback in their title defence.

Debibi United 1–0 Bibiani Gold Stars

Debibi United secured a valuable home victory over defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars at the Debibi Presby Park. Maxwell Agyemang scored just before half-time, and the hosts held on to claim all three points.

The result provided a timely response to Debibi’s previous-round defeat to Berekum Chelsea, while Gold Stars missed the opportunity to build on their Round Six victory over Basake Holy Stars.

Aduana FC 1–0 AshantiGold 04

Aduana FC returned to winning ways with a narrow victory at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park. Abubakar Adams scored in the 40th minute after reacting quickest to a rebound from Seidu Saana’s free-kick. AshantiGold’s task became more difficult following Akwasi Afari’s dismissal, allowing Aduana to protect their lead and secure the points.

Basake Holy Stars 1–0 Bechem United

Basake Holy Stars bounced back from their previous defeat with a narrow victory over Bechem United at the AAK II Park. Bismark Teye Tetteh scored in the 55th minute to settle the contest. The result extended Holy Stars’ unbeaten run against Bechem in the league to five matches, while the visitors failed to reproduce the attacking form that had earned them a 4–2 win over Vision FC in the previous round.

Port City FC 1–1 Dreams FC

Port City FC and Dreams FC shared the points after a late equaliser denied the hosts victory at the Daasebre Boamah Darko II Park. Alex Boateng gave Port City the lead two minutes into the second half, but Kelvin Ahiable struck deep into stoppage time to rescue a point for Dreams.

Port City will regret failing to protect their advantage, while Dreams can take encouragement from their persistence.

Conclusion

Match Day Seven underlined the competitive nature of the Ghana Premier League, with established sides dropping points and late goals proving decisive.

Ghana Premier League Table

As the campaign continues, consistency, defensive discipline and clinical finishing will remain crucial for clubs chasing the top positions and those seeking to avoid the relegation battle.
