According to a report by Football London on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Arsenal have been dealt a setback after learning that teenage forward Andria Bartishvili is expected to miss between two and three months due to ankle ligament damage.
The 17 year old Georgian attacker is scheduled to join the Gunners next summer after agreeing to a pre contract arrangement earlier this year. His move to north London has been confirmed for July 2027.
Bartishvili's current club, Iberia 1999, confirmed the injury, with reports from Georgia indicating that the youngster faces a lengthy period on the sidelines. Simon Collings also highlighted the club's public announcement about the setback.
The forward is currently on loan at Iberia 1999 from Kolkheti 1913, where he has continued developing his game in senior football. His versatility has attracted attention, as he is capable of operating on either wing or in an attacking midfield position.
Bartishvili has also made progress at international level, representing Georgia's youth teams and contributing goals and assists. Despite being only 17, he has already progressed to the under 21 setup, underlining the potential he has shown during his development.
However, the ankle injury is expected to interrupt that progress at an important stage of his career. A two-to-three-month recovery period could rule him out for the remainder of the year, significantly reducing his opportunities to gain further senior experience with Iberia before the winter break.
The setback is not expected to affect his agreement with Arsenal. The Gunners remain committed to bringing him to England in July 2027, although his recovery could influence how much preparation he receives before the move.
Arsenal are reportedly planning to introduce the youngster gradually rather than immediately placing him in the first team. He is expected to develop through the club's academy and under 21 setup before potentially earning opportunities with the senior squad.
For now, Bartishvili's priority will be completing his rehabilitation and returning to full fitness without further complications. Arsenal will hope he recovers successfully and arrives in north London ready to continue his development next summer.
