According to a report by Evening Standard on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Manchester United have received mixed injury updates concerning Carlos Baleba, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw following their dramatic 3-2 Champions League victory over Roma.
The Red Devils ended their nine-game winless run on Tuesday night after coming from two goals behind to secure an impressive victory over the Italian side at Old Trafford. However, the result was overshadowed by concerns over Baleba, who appeared to suffer a hamstring injury shortly after half-time.
The Cameroonian midfielder, who started the match alongside Kobbie Mainoo, was forced off after showing signs of discomfort and holding the back of his thigh. His condition has raised concerns about his availability for Manchester United's upcoming matches.
Speaking after the game, head coach Michael Carrick admitted that the early signs surrounding the midfielder's injury were not encouraging.
"I haven't got any more news on Carlos at this stage, but obviously it looks like it's his hamstring," Carrick said.
"So we'll just have to assess what that looks like. I mean, initially, it doesn't look great. Timelines? I haven't got much more to give you."
United are expected to carry out further medical assessments to determine the extent of the injury and how long Baleba could be out of action.
Meanwhile, Rashford appears to be making progress in his recovery from a persistent hip problem. The England international missed the games against Chelsea and Roma despite earlier expectations that he would be fit enough to return.
Carrick had previously suggested that the forward was getting closer to a comeback, raising hopes that he could feature when Manchester United host Aston Villa on November 7.
Shaw, however, remains unavailable after suffering a muscular injury during the 1-1 draw against Tottenham. The left-back is reportedly making slower progress than Rashford and could need more time before returning to action.
The defender is targeting a possible return for the meeting with Liverpool on November 22, although his availability will depend on how his rehabilitation progresses.
United are also monitoring other injury situations within the squad. Benjamin Sesko is expected to remain sidelined until January because of shin problems, while Manuel Ugarte could be out until the summer of 2027 after suffering an ACL injury at the World Cup.
Baleba's condition remains Carrick's immediate concern, but Rashford's possible return would provide the manager with an important attacking boost ahead of the Aston Villa fixture.
