Manchester City Superstar Ruled Out of Arsenal Clash With 8-week Injury

According to a report by Football London on Monday, October 19, 2026, Manchester City have suffered a significant injury setback after Antoine Semenyo was ruled out for approximately eight weeks with a knee problem. The Ghanaian winger is expected to miss several important fixtures, including City's Premier League encounter against Arsenal.

Semenyo had enjoyed an impressive beginning to the 2026/27 campaign, quickly establishing himself as an important part of Manchester City's attacking setup. The winger recorded five goals and assists combined across his first six starts, showcasing his ability to influence matches in the final third.

However, his excellent start has been interrupted by an injury he sustained during City's recent match against Ipswich Town.

Reports indicate that Semenyo picked up the problem shortly after coming on as a substitute, immediately raising concerns among the club's coaching staff. There were initial fears that the injury could be serious, prompting further medical examinations.

Following the assessment, Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca confirmed that the attacker would be sidelined for around two months.

Maresca explained that the initial examination had suggested the possibility of a more serious injury, but subsequent scans provided a clearer understanding of the situation. The manager also indicated that Semenyo's expected return in December would be similar to welcoming a new signing into the squad.

The Ghanaian's absence presents a major challenge for City as they approach a demanding period across domestic and European competitions. His speed, direct approach and ability to contribute to goals have made him a valuable attacking option, meaning Maresca will need to explore alternative solutions while he recovers.

One of the most notable fixtures Semenyo is expected to miss is the Premier League showdown against Arsenal on November 29. The match could prove crucial in the title race, making his unavailability a significant disappointment for the Manchester club.

The winger could also be absent for league matches against Aston Villa, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Leeds United, Brentford and Chelsea. His return will depend on the progress he makes during treatment and rehabilitation.

In addition, Semenyo is expected to miss Manchester City's League Cup clash against Brighton, along with several Champions League fixtures involving AEK Athens, RB Leipzig, Napoli and Barcelona.

Losing an influential attacker at such an important stage of the season is a considerable blow for City. Semenyo's early performances had added another dimension to their forward line, and his absence could increase the pressure on his teammates to maintain the team's goalscoring output and creativity.

Although Maresca expects the Ghanaian international to return in December, Manchester City will need to handle his recovery carefully to minimise the risk of further complications.

The club will be hoping Semenyo regains full fitness as quickly as possible so he can contribute again in their pursuit of success in the Premier League, domestic cup competitions and Champions League.
