Ghana Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew is beginning a new chapter in his career at Sheffield United in the English Championship.
Jordan Ayew joined Sheffield United on 8 September 2026 as a free agent after leaving Leicester City on 1 July 2026. Leicester City released the Ghana forward after their relegation to League One at the end of the 2025/26 season. He spent one season at Leicester after joining from Crystal Palace for 5.9 million euros in August 2024.
The 34-year-old Ghana striker signed a one-year deal with Sheffield United until the end of the 2026/27 season. He will wear number 9 for the Blades and is expected to bring experience to the attack. Sheffield United are pushing for promotion and need his leadership.
Jordan Ayew has over 100 caps for Ghana Black Stars and has scored 28 goals for his country since 2010. He is one of Ghana's most experienced active players. His form at Sheffield United will be key to maintaining fitness ahead of upcoming Black Stars qualifiers.
Despite a difficult 2026 World Cup with Ghana, where he failed to register a shot on target, Jordan Ayew remains a key figure for the national team. His experience in the Premier League with Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City makes him valuable.
Fans in Ghana will watch his matches in the Championship live on SuperSport and follow updates on Opera News.
