Kylian Mbappe has further underlined his status as one of the fastest players in European football, with his exceptional pace continuing to give Real Madrid a major attacking advantage under manager Jose Mourinho.
According to a report by Madrid Universal on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the French forward has recorded the highest top speed in La Liga this season, highlighting the physical qualities that make him such a dangerous opponent for defenders.
The 27 year old reportedly reached a top speed of 36.3 kilometres per hour during the 2026/27 campaign, placing him at the top of the rankings in Spain’s first division.
His impressive figure also puts him among the quickest players across Europe's five major leagues. Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies is reportedly the only player to have registered a higher speed, clocking 36.7 kilometres per hour.
Several other footballers have matched Mbappe’s recorded speed of 36.3 kilometres per hour, including Liverpool’s Ronald Araujo, Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram and Auxerre midfielder Naouirou Ahamada.
However, Mbappe’s threat goes beyond his ability to run quickly. His acceleration, intelligent movement and understanding of defensive positioning allow him to exploit spaces and create problems for opposition backlines. Combined with his finishing ability, these qualities have made him one of Madrid’s most important attacking players.
He has already scored 11 goals in 10 La Liga appearances this season, including two goals in Real Madrid’s recent 2-1 victory over Barcelona.
Mourinho has reportedly been working to build his tactical approach around the forward’s strengths. Madrid’s defensive organisation and ability to launch quick counterattacks provide opportunities for Mbappe to use his pace against opponents who leave space behind their defensive lines.
Players such as Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and Bernardo Silva could also contribute by providing the passes needed to release him into dangerous positions.
At 27, Mbappe remains at an important stage of his career, and maintaining his physical condition will be essential. Nevertheless, his movement, tactical intelligence and technical ability could help him remain effective even when his natural speed eventually begins to decline.
