Laryea Kingston Wins First Title with Uganda U17 After CECAFA Triumph

Ghanaian football coach Laryea Kingston has celebrated his first title with Uganda after guiding the country's U17 national team to victory in the CECAFA U17 Championship.

The achievement marks an important moment in Kingston's coaching career and highlights the progress he is making with the young Ugandan players. The triumph also comes with an additional reward, as Uganda have secured qualification for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Kingston has been working to develop the young players and help them compete at the regional level. Winning the CECAFA U17 Championship represents a significant step in that process, giving the team a trophy to celebrate and a stronger platform to prepare for the next challenge.

The Ugandan youngsters demonstrated their quality throughout the competition to emerge as champions. Their success has also brought excitement to Ugandan football, with supporters having another reason to look forward to the country's future at youth level.

For Kingston, the title is particularly meaningful because it is his first trophy since taking charge of the Ugandan U17 side. The former Ghana international has now added a major achievement to his coaching journey, having taken his experience into a new football environment.

Beyond winning the regional competition, qualification for the 2027 U17 AFCON is another major benefit of the campaign. The continental tournament will give Uganda's young players an opportunity to test themselves against some of Africa's most promising talents.

Participating in such a competition can also help the players gain valuable experience as they continue developing their skills and understanding of the game. It provides a bigger stage for them to demonstrate their abilities and potentially attract attention from clubs and national-team selectors.

Kingston will now turn his attention to preparing the team for the demands of the continental competition. Although winning the CECAFA title is an important achievement, the U17 AFCON will present a different level of challenge for both the coach and his players.

For now, the Ghanaian tactician can celebrate a memorable milestone with Uganda. His first title with the U17 team, combined with qualification for the 2027 U17 AFCON, gives the team a strong foundation as they look ahead to the next stage of their development.

The achievement also demonstrates Kingston's growing experience in coaching young footballers and adds another encouraging chapter to his journey in the technical area.
