According to a report by GOAL on Monday, November 2, 2026, Anthony Gordon has revealed that he feels less pressure competing for trophies at Barcelona than he experienced while fighting relegation and struggling for league positions in the Premier League.
The England international has enjoyed an encouraging start to his career at the Spotify Camp Nou following his move from Newcastle United. He has recorded three goals and five assists in his first 13 appearances for the Catalan club.
Despite the high expectations associated with playing for one of Europe's biggest teams, Gordon believes competing for major honours is more enjoyable than battling to avoid relegation or trying to secure European qualification.
The 25 year old shared his thoughts during a press conference ahead of Barcelona's Champions League fixture against Aston Villa. Reflecting on his experiences at Everton, Newcastle and Barcelona, he explained that each club had played an important role in his personal and professional development.
"I really enjoyed all three because they come with different things to help you as a person, help you grow," Gordon said.
He added that the opportunity to compete for trophies has made his current experience particularly rewarding.
"I think to be competing on every front for every trophy is definitely the most enjoyable. I think people think it's more pressure, but it's actually less pressure than fighting relegation and fighting to push up the table for the Champions League.
"I want to win every trophy. I want to be the best. This club allows me to do so."
Gordon has quickly gained popularity among Barcelona supporters, with some fans displaying a banner describing him as a Catalan. However, the winger insists he still has plenty of room to improve under manager Hansi Flick.
Although satisfied with his beginning, he admitted that he is continuing to adapt to his teammates and the team's playing style.
"I've started well, but like I've said numerous times, I can do a lot more," he explained.
The former Newcastle player also identified his decision-making in attacking situations as an area requiring improvement. He believes he sometimes passes when he should attempt to score.
"I think I can do it more, I can maybe be a little bit more selfish sometimes. I think sometimes I maybe pass too much. I should definitely score more goals," he added.
Nevertheless, Gordon stressed that helping Barcelona win trophies remains his main objective. He will now look to build on his early contributions as the club continues its pursuit of success in domestic and European competitions.
