UCL Table After Barcelona Lost 4-2, And Manchester City Won 5-1

According to a report by BBC Sports on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the UEFA Champions League standings have changed following Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-2 victory over Barcelona and Manchester City’s convincing 5-1 win against AEK Athens.

The results had different implications for the European sides, with PSG strengthening their position at the top of the table while Manchester City earned three important points to improve their chances of finishing among the leading teams.

Barcelona endured a disappointing evening at the Parc des Princes as PSG displayed their attacking strength to claim all three points. Despite scoring twice, the Spanish giants were unable to contain the French champions, who found the net four times.

The defeat leaves Barcelona with six points from three matches, having won their opening two games before suffering their first loss. They have dropped to fifth place in the standings, increasing the importance of their remaining fixtures as they pursue automatic qualification for the round of 16.

PSG, meanwhile, have maintained their perfect start to the competition. Their victory takes them to nine points from three matches, placing them at the top of the table with a goal difference of plus nine.

Liverpool also have nine points after producing an impressive comeback against Villarreal. The English side recovered from a two-goal deficit to secure a dramatic 4-3 victory at Anfield. However, Liverpool remain behind PSG because of the French club’s superior goal difference.

Manchester City also made a strong statement with their 5-1 triumph over AEK Athens. Phil Foden starred by scoring a hat-trick as Pep Guardiola’s side bounced back from their previous defeat against PSG.

The victory moves City to six points from three matches, placing them sixth in the standings with a goal difference of plus four. The result provides a significant boost as they aim to finish in the top eight and qualify directly for the round of 16.

Stuttgart occupy third place with seven points, while Aston Villa are fourth with six points from their opening two matches. Barcelona sit fifth, followed by Manchester City in sixth position.

Elsewhere, Roma recorded a 4-0 victory over Slovan Bratislava, while Borussia Dortmund defeated Sabah 2-1. PSV Eindhoven also secured a narrow 1-0 win against Porto.

Napoli claimed a thrilling 4-3 victory over Bodø/Glimt, while Fenerbahçe and Slavia Prague played out a 2-2 draw. Stuttgart and Atlético Madrid also shared the points after a 1-1 stalemate.

Under the Champions League format, teams that finish in the top eight at the end of the league phase advance directly to the round of 16. Those finishing between ninth and 24th place must compete in the knockout-phase play-offs, while the remaining teams are eliminated.

With the league phase progressing, the battle for qualification remains open. Barcelona will need to respond in their next European fixture to avoid falling further behind, while Manchester City will hope their convincing win marks the beginning of a consistent run.

Wednesday’s Champions League fixtures could bring further changes to the standings as more of Europe’s leading clubs continue their campaigns.
