LaLiga Table After Barcelona Won 5-2

According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Barcelona strengthened their position at the top of the LaLiga standings after recording an impressive 5-2 victory over Real Betis away from home.

Barcelona made an energetic start to the encounter and opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Lamine Yamal, who produced an excellent finish from outside the penalty area after receiving an assist from Jules Kounde.

Real Betis responded in the 27th minute when Valentin Gomez headed home a cross from Pablo Fornals to bring the hosts level. However, Barcelona regained the lead in the 41st minute as Rodri converted Fermin Lopez's corner with a header to make it 2-1.

Betis appeared to have equalised again before halftime, but their goal was disallowed following a VAR review because of an earlier foul.

Barcelona returned for the second half with renewed attacking intent, and Gabriel Jesus extended their advantage in the 51st minute after being set up by Yamal. Betis responded three minutes later when Abde Ezzalzouli finished brilliantly from a pass by Giovani Lo Celso, reducing the deficit to 3-2.

The contest became more tense following a confrontation between players, which resulted in Facundo Bernal receiving a straight red card for violent conduct. Yamal was also booked during the incident.

Barcelona capitalised on their opportunities, with Eric Garcia restoring their two-goal advantage in the 62nd minute after receiving an assist from Pau Cubarsi.

Dani Olmo completed the scoring in the 81st minute, firing a superb right-footed shot from outside the penalty area after another assist from Cubarsi to seal Barcelona's 5-2 victory.

The result extended Barcelona's lead at the top of the LaLiga table to five points, while Real Betis remained third but faced the possibility of dropping down the standings depending on the results of their rivals.
