Real Madrid scout 18-year-old English midfield talent wanted by Manchester United – report

Real Madrid have reportedly stepped up their interest in Leicester City midfielder Louis Page, with scouts sent to assess the highly-rated teenager as competition for his signature increases. According to Madrid Universal on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Spanish club are monitoring the 18-year-old, who is also wanted by Manchester United and several other European sides.

Madrid’s interest reflects their focus on identifying young players who could develop into first-team regulars. Page has attracted attention through his Leicester performances, and the club are assessing whether he fits their longer-term plans. The scouting activity does not necessarily mean an offer is imminent, but places Madrid among those tracking his progress.

Manchester United are currently believed to be leading the pursuit. The Premier League side reportedly came close to signing Page during the summer transfer window, only for the proposed move to fall through. United have not abandoned their interest and remain hopeful of bringing the midfielder to Old Trafford.

Madrid’s involvement could complicate United’s pursuit if they make a formal approach. The Spanish giants are also reportedly close to completing a deal for Manchester United academy prospect JJ Gabriel, underlining their interest in emerging talent.

Page developed through Leicester City’s academy before making his breakthrough into the senior side last season. He has continued to make progress during the current campaign, recording 15 first-team appearances, one goal and five assists. Those figures highlight his ability to contribute in midfield and provide attacking support through chance creation.

His performances have attracted several clubs, leaving Leicester facing the prospect of losing another promising academy graduate. The Championship side are reportedly prepared to consider a January sale, subject to conditions for interested teams.

Leicester are understood to value Page at £15 million, approximately €18 million. They also want any club completing a permanent transfer to loan him back to the King Power Stadium until the end of the season. Such an arrangement would allow Leicester to retain his services for the remainder of the campaign while securing a significant fee.

United remain the frontrunners according to the report, but several domestic rivals are monitoring the situation. Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked with Page, while Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Brentford have also reportedly registered interest.

Interest extends beyond England. Borussia Dortmund are following Page, while Barcelona have also monitored him. Madrid could therefore face competition from their Spanish rivals if they pursue the teenager.

Page has represented England at Under-19 level, making six appearances. His international experience adds to the attention surrounding his progress, although his next move remains uncertain.

For now, United appear to hold an advantage because of their previous attempt to sign him. However, Leicester’s valuation and loan-back requirement could prove decisive in negotiations. Madrid must determine whether their scouting interest will develop into a concrete bid, while Page’s future may depend on which club is prepared to meet Leicester’s terms in January.
