According to a report by FootballTransfers on Monday, October 27, 2026, Andre Onana could leave Manchester United permanently next summer, with Turkish clubs Trabzonspor and Galatasaray reportedly interested in signing the goalkeeper.
Onana joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in 2023 for around €50 million as a replacement for David De Gea. However, several costly mistakes affected his time at Old Trafford, despite some impressive performances.
The 30 year old eventually fell out of favour at United and moved to Trabzonspor on a season long loan after his future at the English club became uncertain. His loan spell has since been extended for another season.
Manchester United are reportedly considering selling the goalkeeper next summer, with Trabzonspor interested in making his stay permanent after he regained some of his form in Turkey.
The Turkish club could reportedly secure his services for around €10 million, a figure that would represent a significant loss on United’s original investment.
Onana is believed to be happy at Trabzonspor, although it remains unclear whether he wants to commit his long term future to the club. His initial move to Turkey was viewed as an opportunity to regain confidence before potentially returning to one of Europe’s major leagues.
However, his decision could be influenced by Trabzonspor’s recent progress and their strong start under manager Thomas Reis. The team has reportedly won all six of its matches so far.
Meanwhile, Africa Foot claims that Galatasaray are also monitoring the Cameroonian international. The Turkish giants recently signed Ugurcan Cakir from Trabzonspor for €30 million and are reportedly looking for a replacement.
Onana’s contract with Manchester United runs until 2028, giving the club an incentive to sell him next summer rather than risk losing him for a lower fee later.
Trabzonspor currently appear to be well positioned to sign the goalkeeper permanently, particularly given his reported satisfaction with life at the club. However, Galatasaray’s interest could complicate negotiations and give United another potential buyer.
The situation presents Manchester United with an opportunity to recover part of the money spent on Onana, although the final decision will depend on the offers received and the goalkeeper’s own preference.
