Real Madrid are closely monitoring the development of teenage striker Mikel Lopez, whose remarkable scoring record of 148 goals since joining the club’s academy has established him as one of the most promising youngsters at La Fabrica.
According to a report by Madrid Universal on Monday, November 2, 2026, the 15-year-old Spanish forward has impressed academy officials with his physical attributes and consistent performances in front of goal. His combination of height, strength and finishing ability has even drawn comparisons with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
Born in 2011, Lopez joined Madrid’s youth system in 2022 after leaving Canillas. He currently plays for the club’s Cadete A side and has continued to attract positive attention from coaches responsible for overseeing the academy’s emerging talents. Standing at 1.92 metres, he possesses an unusual physical advantage for a player of his age.
His remarkable goalscoring record has developed steadily across different youth teams. Lopez scored 30 goals for Alevin A during the 2022/23 season, establishing himself as a productive attacker shortly after arriving at the club. He improved that return to 38 goals the following campaign while representing Infantil B.
The forward continued his progress in 2024/25, finding the net 43 times for Infantil A. He then registered another 37 goals with Cadete B during the 2025/26 campaign. Those achievements have brought his overall tally since joining Real Madrid’s academy to 148 goals, underlining his consistency across successive age groups.
Lopez has also demonstrated his potential on the international stage. He recently represented Spain at the FIFA U-15 World Cup in Baku, where he scored five goals during the competition. Spain eventually secured the tournament title, giving the young forward another opportunity to demonstrate his abilities against international opposition.
His performances have strengthened Madrid’s confidence in his long-term prospects, although the club will continue to manage his development carefully. The teenager is viewed as an important part of the academy’s future, and officials are keen to ensure he receives the guidance and opportunities needed to progress.
Madrid have already moved to protect their investment in the youngster, renewing his agreement in November 2025. The club are expected to remain attentive to his development as he approaches the next stage of his career.
Lopez will turn 16 in 2027, when he becomes eligible to sign his first professional contract. Real Madrid will hope to reach an agreement that keeps him at La Fabrica, allowing the highly rated striker to continue developing within the club’s system as he pursues a possible future place in the senior team.
