INEOS have confirmed that striker Alban Ajdini is expected to spend around three months recovering from a serious injury, adding to the challenges facing the organisation’s football operations. According to a report by Manchester Evening News on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Lausanne-Sport forward fractured his fibula during a training session and will require treatment and rehabilitation before returning.
The setback comes as Manchester United are experiencing a difficult spell under manager Michael Carrick. United have lost three of their last five matches, increasing scrutiny of the manager and prompting questions about the team’s direction. Their dramatic Champions League victory over Roma on Tuesday, however, offered some relief after a run of disappointing results.
United are due to meet Aston Villa on Saturday as they seek only their second Premier League win of the season. Their preparations have been complicated by several fitness concerns. Benjamin Sesko is expected to miss the fixture, while left-back Luke Shaw is also unavailable. Marcus Rashford could be another absentee, potentially leaving Carrick with fewer attacking options.
The club’s injury problems and limited squad depth have intensified criticism of INEOS, particularly over the recruitment decisions made during the summer transfer window. Questions have been raised about whether sufficient reinforcements were brought in to provide the manager with a balanced squad.
However, the difficulties are not confined to Manchester United. Lausanne-Sport, the Swiss club also operating within the INEOS ownership structure, have confirmed that Ajdini faces a lengthy spell out after being injured in training.
The club announced that the striker would be sidelined for an estimated three months. Its statement explained that Ajdini was hurt in a collision during a training session. Subsequent medical examinations identified a fractured fibula, with treatment and rehabilitation required before he can gradually resume football activities.
The injury is a setback for Ajdini, who is in his third campaign with Lausanne-Sport. He has made six appearances for the Swiss side this season but has yet to score. His absence will therefore leave manager Ludovic Magnin with one fewer attacking option as the team attempts to improve its position.
Lausanne-Sport currently sit 12th in the Swiss Super League, making the loss of another squad member an unwelcome development. Magnin may need to redistribute responsibilities among his remaining forwards, with Omar Janneh and Enzo Molebe among the players who could be given increased opportunities during Ajdini’s recovery.
The club will hope the striker makes a full recovery within the projected period, although his return will depend on his progress through treatment and rehabilitation. For now, Lausanne-Sport must plan without him while seeking better results in the league.
Ajdini’s injury also adds to the challenges facing INEOS across its football interests as the January transfer window approaches. While the situation at Lausanne-Sport is separate from Manchester United’s immediate results, it places further attention on the wider organisation’s strategic squad management and planning overall. United, meanwhile, must address their own availability concerns and recruitment questions as Carrick attempts to improve performances at Old Trafford.
