According to a report by Metro on Friday, October 30, 2026, Arsenal are prepared to consider selling captain Martin Odegaard next summer if they fail to reach an agreement with the Norwegian midfielder over a new contract.
The Gunners are reportedly working to extend his current deal but could allow him to leave in 2027 if negotiations do not result in fresh terms.
The 27-year-old has been a key figure under manager Mikel Arteta since joining Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2021.
He was named club captain in 2022 and has since established himself as one of Arteta's most trusted players.
However, doubts have emerged over his long-term future, with the midfielder having just over 18 months remaining on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are understood to be in advanced discussions over new deals with several important players, including Odegaard, Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Ben White. However, an agreement with the Norwegian midfielder has yet to be reached.
According to Sky Sports Germany, Odegaard would be open to joining Bayern Munich in the future, having maintained contact with the German club's hierarchy over the years.
Bayern are considered one of the potential destinations if Arsenal decide to part ways with their captain.
However, Vincent Kompany's side are not currently pursuing a transfer and Odegaard is reportedly not among their targets for 2027.
Despite the speculation, Arsenal are unlikely to be keen on losing the midfielder because of his importance to Arteta's plans.
The Gunners manager has continued to place his trust in Odegaard despite having other attacking options, including Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino and Kai Havertz.
The Norway international has also maintained a regular place in the team this season, starting all eight of Arsenal's Premier League matches and scoring twice.
Arsenal are therefore expected to make extending Odegaard's contract a priority rather than allowing their captain to leave next summer.
