According to a report by Metro on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is set to undergo surgery after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during the club’s 4-2 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
PSG confirmed the injury after medical examinations and announced that the Georgian international would undergo surgery in the coming days.
Kvaratskhelia suffered the injury during Tuesday’s match at the Parc des Princes in Paris. The 25-year-old was seen holding his right knee after going down on the pitch and was unable to put weight on his injured leg before medical staff helped him leave the field.
The injury is a major setback for PSG as they look to maintain their impressive start to the Champions League campaign. Kvaratskhelia has played an important role in the team’s attack, and his absence could reduce manager Luis Enrique’s options in the coming months.
The French champions also confirmed that forward Ousmane Dembélé and captain Marquinhos sustained injuries during the same encounter.
Dembélé suffered an injury to his left thigh, while Marquinhos sustained an injury to his right thigh. The club said both players would continue receiving treatment over the coming weeks.
The three injuries have raised concerns for Enrique as PSG prepare for their upcoming domestic and European fixtures. The manager may need to adjust his squad selection to cope with the absence of the injured players.
Although PSG have confirmed that Kvaratskhelia requires surgery, the club has not announced a specific date for his return. His recovery timeline will depend on the procedure and his progress during rehabilitation.
Despite the injury setbacks, PSG defeated Barcelona 4-2 to record their third consecutive victory in the Champions League league phase.
