According to a report by UTV Ghana today being Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, has appealed to the government and other relevant stakeholders to support the establishment of a dedicated stadium for amputee football in the country.
The team believes that having a specialised sporting facility would significantly improve the development of the sport and create better opportunities for players to showcase their abilities.
According to the team, the construction of an amputee football stadium would address some of the challenges affecting the preparation and development of players. Such a facility would provide a suitable environment for regular training sessions, competitive matches and other sporting activities aimed at improving the team’s performance.
The Black Challenge has also emphasised the importance of investing in infrastructure that supports athletes living with physical disabilities. The team believes that a dedicated stadium would help create an environment where amputee footballers can train comfortably, develop their skills and compete at higher levels without facing unnecessary difficulties associated with inadequate sporting facilities.
Beyond improving the conditions of existing players, the proposed facility is expected to play an important role in discovering and nurturing young talents across the country. With the necessary infrastructure in place, more young people with limb disabilities could be encouraged to take an interest in football and pursue opportunities in the sport.
The team further believes that sustained support from the government, corporate organisations, sports administrators and other stakeholders would contribute significantly to the long-term growth of amputee football in Ghana.
The appeal comes as the Black Challenge continues to represent Ghana in amputee football competitions, making the need for improved sporting infrastructure an important consideration.
The team is therefore urging the relevant authorities to give serious attention to its request, stressing that a dedicated stadium would be a major investment in the future of amputee football and the country’s efforts to promote inclusive sports development.
