Ansu Fati’s Latest Injury Deals Another Blow to Barcelona

According to a report by FootballTransfer on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Ansu Fati’s latest injury setback has raised concerns for Monaco and Barcelona, who retained a financial interest in the forward following his move to France.

Fati was once regarded as a potential successor to Lionel Messi. He made his Barcelona debut at the age of 16 in 2019 and quickly established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents. However, a series of injuries disrupted his development and prevented him from meeting the high expectations surrounding his career.

Barcelona sold Fati to Monaco for a reported €11 million while reportedly retaining around 20% of his future transfer rights. The arrangement means the Catalan club could receive a financial benefit if the forward regains his form and attracts a significant offer from another club.

There were signs of progress after Fati scored 11 goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances during his loan spell at Monaco last season. However, injuries continued to affect his availability, and he has managed only five appearances this campaign.

According to Nice-Matin, a fresh injury sustained against Lille is expected to keep him out of action for six weeks, dealing another blow to his efforts to rebuild his career.

Fati’s estimated transfer value has risen to €19.3 million since joining Monaco, although it remains significantly below the €41.8 million peak he reached before his injury problems began.

Comparable young attackers are valued between €30 million and €40 million, suggesting that a sustained period of fitness and consistent performances could significantly increase his market value.

A successful recovery could also provide Barcelona with a greater financial return. Based on his current estimated value, the club’s reported 20% stake would be worth around €4 million. If Fati’s valuation increased to between €50 million and €60 million, that share could rise to approximately €10 million to €12.5 million.

For now, however, Fati’s main priority is to return to action and regain his fitness. Another lengthy absence would delay his efforts to revive his career while leaving Barcelona waiting to see whether their remaining financial interest in the forward will deliver a greater return.
