According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Barcelona summer signing Rodri has reportedly emerged as an influential leader in the dressing room under manager Hansi Flick, earning the respect of his teammates despite not wearing the captain’s armband.

The midfielder has strengthened his position within the squad through his communication skills, tactical understanding and close working relationship with Flick.

Rodri initially maintained a relatively reserved approach after joining Barcelona from Manchester City, preferring to listen rather than speak extensively. However, his influence has reportedly increased, with his opinions now carrying significant weight among his teammates.

The midfielder is said to play an active role during half-time team talks, offering tactical advice and helping his teammates identify and correct mistakes during matches.

His growing authority has reportedly led some to view him as an assistant to Flick, particularly because of his ability to communicate tactical instructions and reinforce the manager’s ideas on the pitch.

Rodri’s emergence has also created a complementary leadership partnership with Raphinha, who has long been regarded as one of Barcelona’s most vocal figures in the dressing room.

While the Brazilian brings passion and emotional intensity, motivating his teammates to fight and remain committed, Rodri focuses more on tactical organisation, positioning and correcting mistakes.

The two players are therefore believed to bring different but equally valuable qualities to the squad, helping Barcelona combine motivation with a clearer understanding of their tactical responsibilities.

Rodri’s reported influence could prove important for Flick as Barcelona seek to remain competitive in domestic and European competitions.

Having an experienced midfielder capable of guiding teammates and reinforcing tactical instructions provides the manager with additional support, particularly during difficult moments in matches.

Although Rodri has not officially replaced any of Barcelona’s captains, his growing presence suggests he is becoming an increasingly important figure in the team’s leadership structure.
