Arsenal Star Reveals he Was Already Celebrating Before Manuel Neuer Denied Him

According to a report by Football London on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Arsenal midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has revealed that he had already started celebrating before Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer produced a remarkable save to deny him a goal during their 2-2 Champions League draw.

The Brazilian midfielder came close to putting Arsenal back in front in the second half, but Neuer’s outstanding reaction kept Bayern in the contest.

Speaking after the match at the Allianz Arena, Guimaraes expressed his admiration for the German goalkeeper’s reflexes and ability to prevent what appeared to be a certain goal.

"Phenomenal rescue. I had already begun to rejoice. My question upon finishing the game was, "How did you save that?" which I posed to him. Guimaraes broke the news following the game.

The Arsenal midfielder praised Neuer as a football legend after witnessing the veteran goalkeeper’s impressive intervention during Wednesday night’s encounter between the two European sides.

The match saw Arsenal take the lead through Eberechi Eze before Bayern fought back, with Harry Kane converting a penalty to put the German champions ahead.

However, Arsenal refused to give up, and Declan Rice scored a late equaliser to secure a 2-2 draw, earning Mikel Arteta’s side a valuable point away from home.

Guimaraes joined Arsenal from Newcastle United for £75 million during the summer transfer window and has played an important role in the club’s domestic and European campaigns since his arrival.

The midfielder has also scored twice in the Premier League, including a late winner during his home debut against Leeds United, further strengthening his position as an important member of the Arsenal squad.

Goalkeepers David Raya and Neuer both made significant contributions to the result, while Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano also threatened from a header that Raya managed to save.

The draw means Arsenal remain unbeaten in the Champions League league phase after three matches as they continue their pursuit of progress in Europe’s premier club competition.

Guimaraes’ reaction to Neuer’s save highlighted how close Arsenal came to regaining the lead, while their post-match exchange reflected the mutual respect between the two players following an intense European contest.
