Barcelona have reportedly made enquiries about Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez as they consider strengthening their defence ahead of the January transfer window.
According to TEAMtalk, the Spanish club are exploring the possibility of signing the Argentine centre-back as they search for an experienced left-sided defender for Hansi Flick's squad.
Martinez's future at Old Trafford is reportedly uncertain, with the defender indicating that he could leave Manchester United next summer. His current contract runs until the summer, although United have the option to extend it by another year.
Barcelona's interest could create an opportunity for a January transfer, but any deal will depend on negotiations between the clubs.
Martinez is not the only defender on Barcelona's shortlist. Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni remains a reported target, although securing his signature could prove difficult.
The Catalan club have also considered alternatives such as Real Betis defender Natan. Meanwhile, Arsenal's Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori, alongside Manchester City's Josko Gvardiol, have also been linked with their defensive search.
Manchester United must decide whether to extend Martinez's contract or consider offers for him. Barcelona's reported interest could make the January window important for both clubs.
However, no agreement has been confirmed, and Barcelona may need to create space in their squad and finances before completing a signing.
For now, Martinez's future remains uncertain as Barcelona continue assessing their defensive options.
