Real Madrid Make January Transfer Decision Despite Midfield Concerns

Real Madrid are reportedly planning to avoid making new signings during the January transfer window, despite ongoing questions about the strength and balance of their midfield. The club’s leadership is said to believe that Jose Mourinho already has sufficient quality within his current squad to compete for major honours and bring an end to their recent trophy drought.

Speculation had suggested that Madrid could use the winter market to reinforce their midfield and address other areas considered weaknesses. However, those concerns have not persuaded the board to begin pursuing potential recruits. Club officials remain confident that the players already available can meet the demands of the remainder of the season.

The recent improvement shown by Bernardo Silva and Eduardo Camavinga has reportedly played a significant role in shaping that position. Both midfielders have delivered encouraging performances, providing Mourinho and his coaching staff with greater confidence in the options at their disposal.

Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou has further strengthened that belief. The result offered an important indication of the squad’s ability to compete against leading opponents, reinforcing the view that immediate reinforcements may not be necessary.

Although the club is not actively planning new arrivals, the possibility of departures remains open. Any player seeking to leave would reportedly need to make that intention clear, while Mourinho would also have to approve the move. At present, however, Madrid do not expect such a situation to develop during the January window.

The futures of Jacobo Ramon and Nico Paz also remain unresolved. Both players have been linked with possible returns to the Spanish capital, either during the winter transfer period or next summer. Madrid reportedly have contractual clauses that would allow them to regain control of their situations.

Nevertheless, the club’s hierarchy has decided to delay a final decision until next spring. This approach will give officials additional time to monitor both players’ progress, evaluate their development and consider whether they could become useful members of Mourinho’s first-team plans.

Their possible returns will also depend on the squad’s requirements and the positions Madrid may need to strengthen. Rather than making an early commitment, the club intends to review the situation once more information about its needs becomes available.

While January is expected to be a quiet period for Madrid in terms of recruitment, the summer window could bring more significant changes. Performances throughout the coming months will help determine which players remain central to the project and where additional investment may be required. The club’s current position therefore does not necessarily rule out a substantial squad reshaping ahead of next season.
