BAR 1-2 RMA: Players Responsible for Barcelona's Disappointing El Clasico Defeat

According to a report by Flashscore on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Barcelona suffered a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid in El Clasico after failing to convert several clear scoring opportunities.

Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring for Real Madrid before Raphinha equalised for Barcelona in the 61st minute. However, Mbappe scored his second goal in the 88th minute after receiving a pass from Eduardo Camavinga, securing all three points for the home side.

Despite improving their attacking performance after the break, Barcelona struggled to make their chances count. Several players missed important opportunities that could have changed the outcome of the match.

1. Lamine Yamal

Yamal showed flashes of attacking quality but endured a frustrating evening in front of goal. In the 44th minute, the Barcelona winger found himself with a clear opportunity inside the six-yard box but sent his effort narrowly wide of the right post.

He continued to search for an equaliser after the break, but his 65th-minute attempt was blocked by a defender. Yamal missed the target again in the 74th minute before seeing another effort blocked in the 82nd minute. His inability to convert these chances proved costly for Barcelona.

2. Anthony Gordon

Gordon struggled to turn his attacking efforts into goals. In the 16th minute, his powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area was saved by Andriy Lunin.

The Barcelona attacker created another dangerous opportunity in the 35th minute, but the Madrid goalkeeper produced another important save. Gordon was eventually substituted in the 85th minute after a heavy challenge. Despite testing Lunin, he was unable to make the most of his opportunities.

3. Fermin Lopez

Fermin Lopez failed to provide the attacking influence Barcelona needed during the match. In the 24th minute, his attempt was blocked by a Real Madrid defender before it could seriously trouble the goalkeeper.

He continued to work in midfield but struggled to make a decisive impact in the final third. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick eventually replaced him with Frenkie de Jong in the 74th minute as he searched for a stronger attacking response.

4. Joao Cancelo

Cancelo also struggled to make a decisive contribution in the final third. His delivery from a corner in the 35th minute failed to create a serious threat, as Real Madrid dealt with the situation comfortably.

In the 59th minute, he attempted a dangerous lofted cross into the penalty area, but Real Madrid's defence intercepted the ball. Although Cancelo tried to stretch the opposition and support Barcelona's attack, he was unable to help his team find another goal.
